in finding the area of a region under a curve and between an interval [a,b] where x is greater than or equal to 0, we can use the formula below. I have been unable to understand what "i" stands for. Can someone please explain. The formula is in the comments.

you're missing some subscripts in the equation you post. \[\sum_{i=m}^{n} f(x_i) ∆ x_i\] basic variation, there are others. hope that helps.

I know the sigma notation stands for the sum and Delta x stands for (b-a)/n where [a,b] is the interval and n stands for the number of partitions where as f(x) stands for a function but I have no idea what i stands for
