A pet store runs a monthly magazine ad that is 2 inches wide and 6 inches long and costs $366. The cost of the add is based on area. If the width of he ad is tripled, how much will the new ad cost? Explain Answer.
ok @Hannahfitz after reading the question how would you solve if? any ideas? or just no idea?
hello?? @Hannahfitz are you there?
I don't have any idea. I think it might have something to do with a formula?
hmmm well formulas can be useful but not very much in this case, since the price is calculated by area first you need to find the area of the existing magazine.
the area of the original would be 12
great, now the new magazine's width will be tripled or multiplied my 3, so 2 x 3 =?
6, and then 6 x 6 is 36 but how do i find the cost from here?
ok now you have found the area for both the old and new magazines, the cast for the old magazine is given $366. to find hoe much $ is per square inch divide. 366/12
