Notice that the shaded region is centered around 4
so the inequality would be \[|x-4| \le 1\]
right
all the points that are less than or equal to 1 unit from 4
how did you determine the direction in which the arrow went? Because 4 is bigger than 1?
but at the end it's actually |x-4| <= 1 then.
so I was initially wrong. I'm going to have to look all this over again.
because the shaded region is with in 1 unit from 4 so the distance from 4 is less than or equal to 1
|x-4| <= 1 says the distance from 4 to x is less than or equal to 1
remember the distance between any two points on number line can be obtained by take the absolute value of difference of their coordinates
