C is just explaining about the frogs. Without a comma in A it would be a run on sentence. B and C don't need commas to be correct. If you're explaining something like "I like to ride my bike because it's easier to get to school" You wouldn't need a comma, even if you think you do

A is wrong. You would need a comma after once in awhile. That is like a transition or once upon a time.
