Explain why a model of the atom is crucial to understanding chemistry and in explaining the behavior of matter. Use 3 - 4 sentences in your explanation.

The atom is basic unit of things, basically. To understand the atom, how it works, and its components helps to create a better understanding of the properties of the things it makes up and how they work. Atoms gives us clues on the properties of the items like water molecules are made of oxygen and hydrogen atoms. Being able to study atoms tells us that oxygen has a greater electronegativity which attracts the hydrogen atoms creating a polar molecule. This polarity can be used for many things such as the dissolving.
