Can you give me three examples independent & dependent problems? there's example below Example: Jason’s salary depends on the number of hours he works. The independent variable is the number of hours and the dependent variable is salary.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

what do you mean by independent? and dependent?

Here are some examples that I just thought up, they're actually not too bad. :P 1. The height of the tennis ball depends on how hard it's hit. [Independent is how hard it's hit and the dependent is how high the ball bounces] 2. The taste of the cake depends on how it's prepared (or how long it's baked, who's making it, what brand of ingredients they're using, etc.) [Independent is how it's prepared (etc.) and dependent is the taste of the cake] 3. The amount of time it takes for the ice cream to melt depends on how hot it is. [Independent is how hot the weather is and dependent is the amount of time it takes for the ice cream to melt] ------ The dependent variable is what depends on others but the independent variable is what gets depended on. I hope this helps you out a bit. :3
