Japan had control of Vietnam, The Chinese Civil war had ended and China was Communist. The Korean War was beginning, and the problems in Vietnam had started coming up. It was a serious mess. Not to mention, By that time we were easing into the Cold War. Communism was terrifying. Most of the world at that point and time was practically communist or fresh out of Dictatorship. This is when America reluctantly puts on the sherriffs badge and becomes the World's Police.
