\(\huge \sf How\ to\ be \ Successful\)\
Hey guys i was in class today and we had a guest speaker and he shared these videos with us about success and i want to share them with you guys here they are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scr2PrcDxEo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgmVOuLgFB0 \(\bigstar\) Success is not served on a platter, some say they want to be successful but don't really want it. Like in the video it says" if you want to succeeded as bad as you want to breathe you will be successful". It may take months and even years but once you are successful you will feel relived. For people with Asthma, when you get a asthma attack all you want is air, you don’t care about a basketball game or watching the final countdown, you want AIR. When you reach to the point when you want to be successful as bad as you want to breathe, you will be successful. \(\bigstar\) The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus. - Bruce Lee
\[ \hspace{70pt}\huge \sf \text{Time Consuming }\] \(\bigstar\) Let say we have a \(\bullet\color{blue}{\bf Jar}\)- Represent your time. \(\bullet\color{blue}{\bf Box \ of \ sand}\) -Represents your games, Netflix etc. \(\bullet\color{blue}{\bf \ Small \ rocks}\) - Represent the beach the hanging out with friends \(\bullet\color{blue}{\bf \ Large \ rocks}\)- Represents homework, college stuff, and important stuff Lets say you play a lot of games and never have time for important stuff like homework and studying. And when you friends ask you to go to play football but you know you have a huge test tomorrow but you choose to go play football anyway, and when you reach home you start procrastinating and fail the test. You jar will look like this. \(\bigstar\) First it will be filled with the "SAND* because the sand represent the games and that alone takes half of the jar, then you put the "SMALL" rocks which represents the hanging with friends takes another chunk of the jar and finally the "LARGE* rocks come in and only 3 rocks can fit in the jar and that causes you to not be successful.
\[ \hspace{70pt}\huge \sf \text{Opposite } \] But a guy that does his homework first before going to play football jar will look like this \(\bigstar\) First the jar will be filled with the "LARGE" rocks which represent the homework, studying and important stuff because the important stuff comes FIRST,and after that the "SMALL" rocks which represent the hanging with friends which will come after the homework and important stuff, then finally the sand will come in but will not have enough space for it but the sand can slip through the cracks of the rocks so you have to constantly keep your self focus and try staying away from that stuff, but you can still do it but not for HOURS a day. Even sleep has to go because in the video it says "if you want to be successful you will have to be willing to give up sleep, you have to able to live off 3 or 4hours or sleep because if you go to sleep you will miss the opportunity to be successful". \(\bigstar\) Like the video says " Pain is temporary, it may last for a minute, or an hour, or a day, or even a year, but eventually it will subside, and something else will take its place. If you quit however, it will last FOREVER" You will have to be able to sacrifice what you are for what you will become :D
\[ \hspace{70pt}\huge \sf \text{Example Preetha} \] @Preetha probably sacrificed a lot for this site, here and her helpers. She probably went sleepless nights and studied hard and sacrificed her time just for this site to be what it is today. That is a true example of SUCCESS.
\[ \hspace{70pt}\huge \sf \text{Question } \] Answer this in the comment box below. - What do you want to achieve in your life. - How will you achieve that goal. - And what will you make. (Not money) i mean like if your a Fire Fighter you will make your ambulance ride that seems like 2 hours or pain, to 2mins or doctor will make you breathe again or see your family etc. So i hope to see great comments :D
Me in life wants to achieve becoming a lawyer that is my ultimate goal in life not for the money but because i am very passionate about that i love debates <3 i will achieve this by studying hard!Going to law school and getting the grades i need in order to become a lawyer. I want to be a lawyer because I belvie in justice, people should not be punished for things they have not done i see this alot and tear up when it happens because the innocent person have to suffer the consequences, so there you have it i will make people happy and my parents proud.
OMG i love the attitude :D My question is @kidrah69 will there be sleepless nights or times where you will say i cant do it anymore? How will you deal with all of that
Idc if i have to stay up endless nights working for what i want because at the end it all pays off! :D
Just like Preetha :)
Yep :D great attitude :D Yep @Preetha is a great example. How about you @perl
Yes, I agree with comments above. Preetha is a great example of someone who sacrifices for a cause, to spread education.
Thats the price of success
I want to become a great software developer. How will I do this? I will learn from others, and teach the others without asking for anything back. I'll do projects and work as hard as it is needed. :)
Great :D
This post is literally gold! Yes, we, as students and the next generation, should have specific goals in mind. Not to mention those that have already succeeded in their past goals.
good job
Thanks guys :D
My life is filled with "large rocks" >.>
Mine is filled with boulders.
Mine is filled with OpenStudy.
lol
Wow! Hey thanks Jag. This is a very insightful post. I am really happy that you are thinking about this and that your speaker's words have made an impact on you. This is the first step to achieving success. I want you to make this your daily chant, and start living these principles. At the end of the day, you are a success or not - when you decide you are a success - by your own metrics. I am not wealthy like Bill Gates - but I do feel that I am succeeding in something I care about -helping young people find THEIR success. Everytime I see a post like this - I feel I a a little closer to achieving that.
I will share a video with you - I saw this movie when I was quite young, but it has made an impact on me. (*Little known fact about Preetha - she cries when she hears some songs - including My Fair Lady and Sound of Music) Here are the lyrics:To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star This is my quest To follow that star No matter how hopeless No matter how far To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march into Hell For a heavenly cause And I know if I'll only be true To this glorious quest That my heart will lie peaceful and calm When I'm laid to my rest And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable star
It is from The Man from La Mancha, based on the story of Don Quixote. And it is about setting up high goals for oneself. Here is the song. I am teary eyed already. https://youtu.be/RfHnzYEHAow
This is for all of you, OpenStudiers.

OpenStudy is my quest: To fight for the right of every learner to seek and receive help! I was teaching large Chemistry courses and I knew no matter how good a teacher I was, when students get help from each other - both benefited.
yea i learned that from you on TED talk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-PnBZihCmk
