MEDAL! Really need someone to see if I have the right answer! The image below shows the Corkscrew roller coaster at Cedar Point in Ohio. Look at the people sitting in the last cart in the back of the roller coaster (the red arrow points to them). When this photograph was taken, the people in the last cart are coming down the last loop in the corkscrew feature. If these people have a kinetic energy of 72,600.0 Joules and a gravitational potential energy of 35,280.0 Joules, what is their total mechanical energy at this point?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My answer: (KE+PE)beginning=(KE+PE)end 72,600.0+35,280.0=107,980J

OpenStudy (matt101):

It's 107,880 J, but yes, mechanical energy is the sum of KE and PE.
