I want to create a OS for a windows computer. Im thinking of doing something LIKE Microsoft BOB, but functionable on all computers. I havent decided what programing language to use, and I know a few. I need a recomondation on which programing language I should use, and some script I should know.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

What you have said makes little sense. Windows is an OS, so you can't make an OS for Windows computers. BOB was not an OS. It was just a GUI overlay, and a poorly implemented one at that. It was not at all intuitive and something like 99% of users had it removed.

Creating an operating system would be very very hard, unless you have a group of people. and like what e.mccormick said, you cant make an operating system within an operating system. if you are looking for something like DSL (DamnSmallLinux) or something you would need a whole group of people. not very simple.

What I want to do Is make something were if I type something, or click something, it will open that program. I understand that it will take a lot of work, but what I want is something anyone can open and get there programs opened easier, kind of like the windows button.

Yeah... umm... i dont know why you would want to do that but you could... if you programmed a bit in C++... i dont know much about it, so i dont know why im replying, but you could look at some tutorials. lots of tuts on coding on youtube. if your talking about like a menu with a bunch of shortcuts, why not just add stuff to the start menu?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

You are looking for how to make a GUI overlay for Windows. They call these replacment shells: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_alternative_shells_for_Windows There are several open source ones there, which will get you started on it.
