What exactly are proportions?

Proportions are simply put as corresponding values/sizes. Many times equal, sometimes not (such as the idea of similar triangles.) For example 3/4 is a proportion of 30/40

Let me give you a real life example. You get 25% off at a clothing store. The item you want to buy is 200 dollars. To solve this question you can set up a proportion, a proportion is basically the equal value. So you want to find the money you get off. 25/100=x/200 You are trying to find the equal value<<<Basically what a proportion is. 25 of 100 is equal to 50 of 200 so this is a proportion
