OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

What is 0.56 written as a fraction in simplest form? A. 2/5 B. 14/25 C.1/2 D. 5 3/5

OpenStudy (rhystic):

so you have .56 which is the same as 56/100 because after the decimal place it goes tenth hundredth thousandth etc. so .2 is the same as 2/10 etc. Now that you have 56/100 simply it.

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

like divide 56 and 100?

OpenStudy (rhystic):

no simplify it. So what is the greatest number that both 56 and 100 can be divided by evenly?

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

I would say 5 but thats not the right answer..

OpenStudy (rhystic):

nope becaues 56 can't be divided by 5 evenly. but 4 can... if you are unsure you can always divide by a number you know both will simplify evenly for instance 2 and then whatever numbers you get you can keep repeating it as long as you get whole numbers. So try 4 and you will have your answer.

OpenStudy (hellomynameiskam):

Kay.
