Help with vectors

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

For the following vectors, find 2u − 3(v − w) : u = <5, -1>, v = <-2, 1>, w = <-1, 0>

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

2(5,-1)-3(-2,1-(-1),0)

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

(10,-2)-(-6,-3-3,0)

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

(13,1)?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

2u - 3(v - w) : since a vector has x and y parts, it is the sum of an x and y vector. rewriteing them as ax + by allows us to avoid confusion and work the simple algebra of adding like terms and distribution u = <5, -1>: 5x -1y v = <-2, 1>: -2x+1y w = <-1, 0>: -1x+0y 2u - 3(v - w) 2(5x -1y) - 3((-2x+1y) - (-1x+0y)) 10x -2y - 3( -2x+1y +1x) 10x -2y - 3( -1x+1y ) 10x -2y +3x-3y

OpenStudy (amistre64):

13x is good, dbl chk your y parts

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

oh -5?

OpenStudy (darkbluechocobo):

You just taught me a way to organize it better thank you
