What was the reason for the Constitutional Convention? To address the weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation To debate whether or not to secede from Britain To draft and sign the Declaration of Independence To write a constitution increasing the power of the states

I has been 3 years since I took civics but I remember a few things.

After gaining independace from Great Britain the states were all following under the articles of confederation which had very little power over the states, and if they were to try to pass an amendment the states could simply veto it rather than take a vote

Under the article of confederation the states did not feel like they belonged together but rather than calling themselves Americans they would call themselves according to their state.. such as "Floridians" or "Pennsylvanians"

Yes.

The governement did not even have the power to tax the states because the states were too powerful.
