Thomas, Jenna, and Maria are playing a game. They have a bag that contains 44 white tiles and 2 red tiles. Each player takes turns picking a tile at random and does not return the tiles to the bag. The player who draws a red tile first is the winner. In the first round, Thomas goes first, then Jenna, and then Maria, and none of them draws a red tile. What is the probability that Thomas will win the game on his second turn?

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

I thought it would be 2/41 but that is not an answer choice :/

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

The options are A. 2/45 B.1/23 C.2/42 D. 1/21

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

C is 2/43 , i had a typo sorry :P

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

I figured it out, it is 2/43 I forgot to add the 2 red tiles to the total amount of tiles xD woops lol

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the 3 players each draw a white tile so there are 46-3 = 43 tiles left of which 2 are red so when it comes to thomas on his second turn what are his chances of red?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes Bookroom u r right 2/43
