Pessimism and Optimism on "The Trout", story help?
http://curriculum.kcdistancelearning.com/courses/ENG2x-HS-A06/b/unit1/trout2b.htm
Below is a chart which shows the continuum from Pessimistic to Optimistic and on which you can "gauge" where a character fits at each point in the story. For each of the stories, "The Trout" and "The Wager," decide where you think each story's main character is at the beginning, the middle and the end of the story. After you decide, put a quote in the appropriate box to support your "optimism gauge."
chart is underneath these things Extreme Pessimism Moderate Pessimism Neutral Moderate Optimism Extreme Optimism then under that, the category if the quote is in the beginning middle or end. so if have a random quote from a random book that states, "I love you" (for example), I would put where I found it, which might be at the end, and I think it's extreme optimism. Does that make sense?
ahh shoot, this math, not English -.-
