OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill help :)

OpenStudy (surana):

What do you need?

OpenStudy (cookielate):

thanks

OpenStudy (cookielate):

This is the question that I need help with - In paragraph 2, what reasons does Obama give for why"a nuclear -armed Iran is not a challenge that can be contained"?

OpenStudy (surana):

What are the possible answers?

OpenStudy (cookielate):

its cuz Iran has dangerous nuclear weapons

OpenStudy (surana):

That's not helpful.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

So let me be clear. America wants to resolve this issue through diplomacy, and we believe that there is still time and space to do so. But that time is not unlimited. We respect the right of nations to access peaceful nuclear power, but one of the purposes of the United Nations is to see that we harness that power for peace. And make no mistake, a nuclear-armed Iran is not a challenge that can be contained. It would threaten the elimination of Israel, the security of Gulf nations, and the stability of the global economy. It risks triggering a nuclear-arms race in the region, and the unraveling of the non-proliferation treaty. That’s why a coalition of countries is holding the Iranian government accountable. And that’s why the United States will do what we must to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

OpenStudy (surana):

Okay, now that's helpful.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

thats the paragraph

OpenStudy (cookielate):

thats not my paragraph thats the paragraph of the question

OpenStudy (surana):

Okay, basically the reasons he's giving basically total out to: Iran has the ability to abuse the nuclear power they have in order to harm others, in clear violation of the laws and rules that have been set up.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

so he doesn't want Iran to have these dangerous nuclear weapons

OpenStudy (surana):

Pretty much.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

so thats for the first question right idk what else to put

OpenStudy (surana):

yeah.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

Obama wants to be proctectvie and not have the country to be in danger because it could cause a problem

OpenStudy (cookielate):

should I also put that

OpenStudy (surana):

Yes, you should put that.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

okay thanks can you also help me with the last question please

OpenStudy (surana):

Sure.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

thanks okay In paragraph 2, what effect does it have when Obama says, "but that time is not unlimited" immediately after offering time for diplomacy?

The phrase of "time is not unlimited" means that every moment wasted is another that Iran can prepare and perfect nuclear weaponry for their usage.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

thanks for helping me

OpenStudy (surana):

You're welcome.
