advanced algebra ( Polynomial graphs) help? will medal

OpenStudy (jessicawade):

I have 3 questions Im needing some help with if you can help, I would be greatly appreciated.

OpenStudy (jessicawade):

Use a graphing tool to view the graph of y= x(x+2)(x+4). Use the graph to determine which of the statements are true. I. The y-intercept is 0. II. The intervals of increase are [-4,2] and [0, +∞). III. The degree of the function is 3. IV. As x approaches ∞, f(x) also approaches ∞.

OpenStudy (jessicawade):

the answers are : I, II, and IV I, III, and IV II and III I and IV

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y= x(x+2)(x+4). y=(x^2+2x)(x+4) y=x^3+4x^2+2x^2+8x y=x^3+6x^2+8x so y intecept: when x=0; so when x=0 y(0)=0^3+6(0)^2+8(0)=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so y intercept =0 so I is true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since there is x^3 so III is true too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IV is alos is true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

II you need to plot the function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is the answer : I, III, and IV

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

Does that^ make sense?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

Here is an online graphing calculator
