Greece and Italy were neighbors across a narrow sea. How did the location of Greece affect the development of Roman society? Romans borrowed much from Greek culture. Romans fought the Punic Wars to defend against Greek invasions. Romans built roads in order to transport trade goods to Greece. Romans developed advanced ships to cross the Black Sea.
