OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

We need to edit COC a little.

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

we ned to add that giving links to OS or answer yahho, or any sites where this question is asleardy asked is prohibited. because askers just scool down and look for answer. in my opinion this also counts as direct answer to give such links.

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

Also. i finnaly reached teamennate.

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Congrats.

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

thx

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

giving links isn't not banned some yahoo answers can be used as reference - not necessarily all answers can be stolen from it :P the only rule about "direct answers" is for the purpose of letting and making sure all askers understand *how* do to their question, if that means including an outside link to clarify something - links are perfectly allowed :) sure, there are times when links do give out the answer, and we should avoid those but there is no need to take it all the way into the Coc because of all such loopholes if that makes sense...

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

wait my grammar has failed me *giving links is not something that is banned

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

well eclipced star for example aslo thinks it is a direct answer, cause yahoo gives answers same thing

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

so maybe yeah

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

like personally, if I am trying to help someone, I might link a very similar yahoo answers answer as reference to show the steps process and help the user through the same process but with different numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope I don't agree.sorry :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I use those in case I don't know the answer, so they can refer to that link and read over to get their answers.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @shifuyanli I use those in case I don't know the answer, so they can refer to that link and read over to get their answers. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) You approve of giving links that have the asker's answer on the bottom of the page?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

most of them explain anyway @EclipsedStar

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yes, but the person can just skip over the explanation and not learn.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Which is a direct answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, and that would be their fault!! there is no need to put this in the coc. That would be another reason for users to not join. It is not that bad so I disagree 100%.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think we should just stick to our simple rules we have now :)

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yeah, I agree that putting that in the CoC isn't necessary, but the fact that giving links that have the answer on the bottom doesn't seem right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, as long as the user doesn't say a direct answer, my judgment would be to just aviod those links if you agree to this post :/

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

puting it in coc @EclipsedStar will give you a reason that it is against the rules to do it. remmebr you were asking how to prove these people that this is a direct answer? same

sammixboo (sammixboo):

I'd think it would be considered a direct answer DEPENDING ON WHAT THE LINK SAYS

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

^ Not all links give direct answers.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

So it isn't necessary to make a rule that no links whatsoever are allowed,

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

butw in all links there is a answer in the bottom of page

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

No, I give wiki links all the time.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

I gave a link from where the asker was able to get their answer - sue me :P http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5525a899e4b0bdcc62fee684 http://prntscr.com/6xdziv http://prntscr.com/6xe0td jk I'm pulling your leg ;) but I don't believe there was anything wrong with how I answered that question :3
