Ambassador ranks! If @Preetha really trusts a ambassador and thinks they deserve a promotion then here are some ranks eventually leading up to a moderator!
Ambassador+ Ability to have a custom title Ambassador+ Lite Ability to delete chat messages (in-case of inappropriate content) Ambassador+ Extra Ability to delete response to posts (in-case of above/direct answers) Ambassador+ Super Ability to delete questions Ambassador+ Mega Ability to warn+special color Ambassador+ Epic Ability to suspend for max 5 minutes Ambassador+ Extreme Ability to suspend for max 1 hour Ambassador+ Ultimate Ability to suspend for max 24 hours+special color
I agree very much. @Jaynator495
This is cool.
I think Ambassador+ Epic should be the last and best one.
Ambassador ranks...? o.o
Yes indeedy eclipsed
Different ambassadors get different powers based on how well they do.
I like this, but the purpose of ambassadors are not to moderate but rather to welcome new users, promote OpenStudy, etc.
Those upgrades have mod powers though...which isn't the best as moderators are distinguished from their powers.
Exactly, tso.
no eclipsed, these are given based on perofrmance, youll have to spend a long time earning them.
By the time you deserve one of those ranks, you could be promoted to a full moderator :P
There should be Ambassador+Ultra. Ability to Suspend and delete posts and comments.
ambassador ranks is like a transistion to moderator... like trial runs progressivley leading up to see if someone thats already a ambassador, can handle more... but as i said, only if they deserver it
@Jaynator495 You put the ability to delete posts but I don't see the ability to close posts.
thesmartone... you are right, but that will never stop me from trying to help openstudy x'D i may not be the best behaved, but ill still try to help openstudy improve ._.
\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @DARTHVADER2900 There should be Ambassador+Ultra. Ability to Suspend and delete posts and comments. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Exactly like what a mod does? I see trouble brewing. There's a reason why moderators are all 18+.
which is exactly the reason i would turn down moderator if i was ever offered it LOL
Also the only powers ambassadors should be allowed to have are the ability to close questions, warn, and suspend for a maximum of ten minutes.
Eclipsed, i said deserved and earned, for some youll need to be 18+ for, and for some of the begining you dont have to ._.
I'm all-through against this...a mod's powers is the thing that distinguishes them from others.
I dont think this is needed moderation is NOT the job of ambassadors
it all depends how you behave, and how you act, and if you deserve it.
Plus, having powers isn't an ambi's job.
Its like a stairway. Bring yourself to the top. This scale/stairway that Jay produced is very reasonable. They start off with a very limited power and once the officials see how we are doing they can either demote us or promote us.
EVERYONE STOP SAYING IT ISNT A AMBI JOB ;-; In my view a ambassador is the bridge between mods and users, and main goal is to improve openstudy, and help the community... if you earn it then you deserve it ._.
We dont need it :) maybe the ability to kick and close questions for ALL ambi's would be nice but other than that this is not needed
exactly! conflux gets it! *phew*
I know @EclipsedStar but, mods can do way more.
Oh?
I like the idea, but I think this should be applicable to everyone. So that way we could put the most helpful people of our community and see how they would use their limited powers before letting them become full on moderators.
^ but then, only the popular users benefit,
Not really.
@DARTHVADER2900 , admins can do the most.
plus, if you do something wrong, since they see all actions for this, you can be demoted if you end up abusing, even after proving youve earned it ._.
If the user isn't popular that means he hasn't really helped the community...
he/she*
The most popular would most likely abuse the limited powers before they become moderators. @EclipsedStar
I know that. They are administrators....
Admins are not the most powerful.
Kittens are.
Job of an ambi: To welcome users and solve problems ( IF SOLVABLE if not mod is the next step) Job of a mod: Keep OS clean ban/suspend/warn Job of admin: all of the above + development
no, you have to first earn ambassadorship, as this is step 1 of earning it, after that you work up a bridge... the last one is the easiest bridge to jump to mod.
Lol the people that knew me called me helpful when I was increasing my ss but when I went to the chat for the first few times everyone was like "who are you" :P
haha. Yes kittens are the most powerful
:)
A lot of ambassadors become mods later on.
\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @confluxepic A lot of ambassadors become mods later on. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) only like 5 succeeded :P
More.
I think like 10.
Nope.
Well ambi's are 13+ mods are 18+ imagine a 14 year old with power think will they be able to use it responsibly? (no offense i could name few ambi's who would overdo it)
@EclipsedStar You also have to think how many people have become ambassadors, and how many of them are active, how many of them are over the age of 18.
pooja what part of SOME would be available to people under 18 did you not get? D:
I really think that there is a reason why there's an age gap between those two jobs.
Then only would an ambassador have a chance of becoming a moderator.
Ah...
Gotcha tso :3
Ok maybe closing questions and kicking from chat would be good i dont think the rest is necessary :/
But yes tso u have a point ;)
\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @pooja195 Ok maybe closing questions and kicking from chat would be good i dont think the rest is necessary :/ \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) \(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @confluxepic Also the only powers ambassadors should be allowed to have are the ability to close questions, warn, and suspend for a maximum of ten minutes. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\)
As long as they're minor powers and are not abused.
only some powers would be available to get under 18 years old, after that limit is reached you cant go farther up the chain until your 18
I think the powers would get abused
Some people could give fake ID's showing they're 18+ @Jaynator495
that wont cut it LOL
New ideas get mainly criticism unless someone with a higher authority supports it.
eclpised, now theres such a thing as a background check
@EclipsedStar Some people could give fake ID's showing they're 13+ and become an ambassador.
Jay why would busy people go all their way to check someone's background.
@pooja195 I said "higher authority".
Why not?
i think ambassador+ extra rank would be the last rank a 17 and under person could get
@confluxepic you yourself said that you were younger than me but my first impression of you was 16 years old.
People lie about their age
o.O hes younger than you???
YEah
eclipsed... why are you saiying this... do you even know what a background check is... theres like 2108942390158903856902348690238476934869834968349086930486903486903486903846908349068349086 internet searchers for background checks and none of them take long to read x'D
:O
@EclipsedStar Now don't you think that mental age matters more than physical age?
That's what I meant. People could act 18 for a "background check".
if thats the case then my mental age is 17 but thats niether here or there i STILL act like a child x'D
How would someone act 18 O.o
\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @EclipsedStar That's what I meant. People could act 18 for a "background check". \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Then they deserve to be treated as an 18 year old if they act like one.
Saying more vocabularical terms, etc.
eclipsed... thats physicly not possible... a background check checks birth records... crime records etc
...and how would someone get that if they aren't presented with it? lol
BECAUSE THEY ARE PRESENTED WITH IT FROM A SEARCHER!!! all you need is there name and you can search all this online... google is a scary place
gO_Ogle
I like the idea, but highly doubt it would be approved :/
That is true. Everyone is tracking people now days. Very scary.
mmhmm.
Let's just leave powers to the mods, where they belong. No need for people less than 18+ to handle tools meant for 18+ chosen people.

So, if I am 14, I can't handle powers that mods possess
