Analyze the growth of television during the 1950’s. What were some of the effects of television on American life and culture in the 1950s?

OpenStudy (ciaraxcx):

Television aided in the integration of blacks into american culture, diminishing the cultural boundaries and making the younger white generation more accepting of blacks. Television also made it so Americans could see what was going on during the Vietnam war, and what politicians were saying about the war wasn't matching up, causing a credibility gap (meaning americans couldn't really trust the government).

OpenStudy (ciaraxcx):

Television also enforced the idea that women should be stay at home wives, and we're portrayed as happy to serve their husbands, which discouraged women in real life from working or moving up in society. So, you can say that television enforced gender roles.
