really need help! medals will be given!! Select the equation of the line that passes through the point (3, -1) and is perpendicular to the line on the graph. y = -1 y = 3 x = -1 x = 3

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

where is the pic? perpendicular lines have negative reciprocal slopes

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

whats the line on the graph ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its at (0,2.5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no slope

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

so its a horizontal line ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

a horizontal line is represented by y = a number.....but your looking for a perpendicular line....so that would be a vertical line and that is represented by x = a number. Now look at your points (3,-1)......so what does x = ?? HOY -- horizontal line, 0 slope, y = a number VUX -- vertical line, undefined slope, x = a number
