In the side of \(\TeX\) That OpenStudy uses, the `def` command, is used for macro.

Macros are used to make multiple of something without writing it out all over again, it is also used to make commands. For example, you can type `\(\def\OS{OpenStudy}\OS\)` and it will come out as \(OpenStudy\) and so now, all you need to type, is `\(\OS\)` and it will come out as \(OpenStudy\)
