How would I simplify cos2(theta)/sin(theta)-cos(theta)?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

what does "simplify" mean in this context?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

just simplify expression, make it as simple as possible

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

reduce the identities as much as possible

OpenStudy (misty1212):

i really don't see too much you can do with it

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

it cant be simplified?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

there is no such mathematical operation as "simplify" it is just a lazy math teacher way of saying "give me an answer i want"

OpenStudy (misty1212):

you can divide top and bottom by cosine and rewrite it as \[\frac{\cos(x)}{\tan(x)-1}\] if you think that is "simpler"
