U.S History how do the following connect to america during the cold war: *soviets explode an atomic bomb *the race for the H-bomb *the policy of brinkmanship *the CIA *the space race *sputnik

1. America attempted to avoid conflict and were worried at the fact that the Soviets would use their new atomic resources to battle the US, and vise versa for the Soviets. 2. The H-Bomb was what caused the original nuclear arms race, which resulted in the Soviets and the Americans to develop better and better technology for warfare use, but at the same time sucking up trillions in federal money. 3. It was like a game of "chicken". If nuclear war did occur then the world would be teetering on the brink of global catastrophy. The US and Soviet Union "flexed" their power and slowly pushed each other to idea of nuclear war, which influenced US and Soviet Union reactions. 4. The CIA during this time frame was mainly focused on the Soviets and their Nuclear Programs. The CIA was attempting to gain intelligence on Soviet plans and military weapons/strategies. 5. The space race was pivitol in Nuclear warfare because a strong Astronomy organization allowed the country to create new and improved missiles, eventually leading to the possibilities of intercontinental warfare. 6. The sputnik marked the beginning of the Space race, thus pushing missile/intercontinental warfare into action. Please check up on my facts, I have confidence in my answers but it is always to get second opinions
