a pendulum swings through an arc that has a distance of 20 inches. the length of the arc on each successive swing is 95 percent of the previous swing. after ten additional swings, what is the total distance through which the pendulum has swung? round the final answer to the nearest inch.

Well, we can come up with this equation for the length of the arc swing in terms of n, the number of swings. \[L(n)=20(.95)^{n}\] So, when we plug in 10 swings, we get \[L(10)=20(.95)^{10}\] \[L(10)\approx20(.59874)\] \[L(10)\approx11.9747inches\]
