OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

If the range of a normally distributed data set is 25, what's a reasonable estimate for the standard deviation?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I think that the range is given by the subsequent formula: \[\Large range = 25 = 2 \times \sigma \]

OpenStudy (hockeychick23):

i got it, i looked it up, its 1/4 the range, thanks :)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

thanks! :)
