Discrete math deals with mathematical structures that are discrete, as opposed to continuous. So structures involving integers and so on. Real numbers are out and so is calculus because they're continuous. Stuff like number theory, cryptography, computer algorithms and lots more fall under the discrete math unbrella

When I took the "discrete math" courses, I deal with set of numbers, not interval; how a function work at points and many stuff like that.
