That is possible but improbable.

One of the reasons you can not do this is because it would confuse other users when you change your username. And if someone was to take your old username, they would be tagging/messaging a totally different user. It would be a lot of confusion. Not everyone would know that you changed accounts.

But it wouldn't be possible. A lot of people have asked. It would be confusing to switch usernames and all as I described above. Also they would have to change your username every single chat, every single question, and if they mess up, your account would break. [That is what I have heard/read from similar but older posts] :/
