OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Suggestion: We should be able to give more than one medal for questions.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

We all know that sometimes when there is a question, more than one person gives the "best response". I think we should be able to give more than one medal per question, because sometimes two people give great, well-thought responses, but then we can only reward one of them. If we can give more than one medal for each question, OS users' "people helped" count will be more accurate.

pooja195 (pooja195):

There are pros and cons to this but I disagree I think one medal per post is enough because if we allow more thatn one then it leads to medal spamming and gaming the system

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Well you would only be able to give one medal per person, so if two people help you equally, you can give them both a medal.

pooja195 (pooja195):

hmmm I like it then :) nice suggestion yeah I can see where yr coming from I sometimes feel bad because there would be two other people who helped me but I can only give one medal :( I agree but I dont think this will happen anytime soon (with the new ipdate and glitched devs are busy not to discourage u or anything)

pooja195 (pooja195):

but limit to 2 medals instead of one

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Yeah, exactly. This would be really great because sometimes two different people explain how to do something differently, and they both helped, but only one of them gets the medal.

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

Personally i would spam everyone. well that's me and if its coming from me, then I bet everyone else would do the same. Maybe a gold and silver medal. A silver medal counts as half of a gold one.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

How could you spam everyone if it's limited to one medal per person?

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

I can get 4-5 people to medal each other. That would be 5 medals per person .

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

You can only give one medal per person. So you can't give one person two medals. You have to distribute them among the people who helped you.

pooja195 (pooja195):

Well thats for you to think about we dont want to give ideas ;)

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Yeah, but you can do that now.

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

but why do it this way when I can give everyone a medal, and then pooja gives everyone a medal, and rvc gives everyone a medal.

pooja195 (pooja195):

well maybe there should be no medals :P jk I think 2 would be good

pooja195 (pooja195):

whatever it is therebhas to be a limit

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Because this way OS users' "people helped" count is more accurate.

pooja195 (pooja195):

yes :) but like I said it may not happen till years later xD

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Hopefully it happens soon, because I think this would be a great improvement to OS! :)

pooja195 (pooja195):

:)

rvc (rvc):

all the best :)

OpenStudy (king.void.):

We actually can.

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Just not to the same user. You can give a medal to anyone who helped :))

pooja195 (pooja195):

atm you cant :/ its only one medal per post

OpenStudy (king.void.):

*Sigh* ;-; We can @pooja195 @iGreen pointed it out.

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Shall I explain?

pooja195 (pooja195):

yea :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree, that you can give two people that answered your question a medal. @vera_ewing :)

pooja195 (pooja195):

king delete the comment

OpenStudy (king.void.):

I just gave @RainbowBrony555 @pooja195 and @vera_ewing a medal :P at the same time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess that's kind of cheating, but yeah, it works ^-^ @King.Void.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Wait how?

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Not really. Igreen says @iambatman loves it

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

I didn't work...

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Do I have to ;-;

OpenStudy (king.void.):

Take away the medal you already gave someone then try it's easy

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Ok well this is suggestion so that we don't have to cheat.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I never did this btw

OpenStudy (samanthagreer):

yeah i kinda agree but you can only give like 2 or 3

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Yeah because sometimes two people help explain something differently, and they're both correct, but only one of them gets another "person helped".

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Cons: Makes medal party's better because you can get more medals since everyone can medal how many people they want to And note, that medals are given to the \(\sf Best\) Response. So you have to decide who helped you the most or the best before you give them the medal.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

No, but like you would only be able to give one medal per person. So you can't inflate a person's medal count for that question.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Sometimes people help equally the best. Especially for math. Sometimes two different people each tell you different way to do it, so this way, you can give them both a medal because they both gave the best response.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Ok, let me give you an example: I have 2 friends. I make a spam post and invite them to come. All 3 of us respond to the post. Now I got 2 medals from both of them, I gave 1 medal each to both of them. And they medalled each other. So now instead of having to make another post to get the equivalent of 2 medals per person, I accomplished this with only one post because of this sigesstion.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

And tbh, that "People helped" count isn't accurate. I've answered 7000+ questions and my "People helped" count is only 657.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Yeah well people can do that now. This is just to make it more fair for two people who both gave a best response.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

6880 questions*

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

@vera_ewing Yes, they can still do that now. But this sugesstion will help them medal spam themselves faster. So instead of needing to make 2 posts, they now can do it in 1 post. So it helps them gain SS more faster, and do it in less time.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Yeah but they won't ever get the chance, because the moderators on OS are so great at doing what they do! Those people will get suspended!

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

A long time ago I suggested decimal medals. Two people help. They each get half a medal.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

or that

JoelTheBoss (joel_the_boss):

my silver medal sounds fancy

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Decimal medals? Sounds complicated (and the system might go even more haywire).

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @vera_ewing Yeah but they won't ever get the chance, because the moderators on OS are so great at doing what they do! Those people will get suspended! \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Actually, about the medal party problem (which I absolutely agree with tso on this problem), many people bypass the CoC unnoticed until people report others. So, the mods could be unaware.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @TheSmartOne And tbh, that "People helped" count isn't accurate. I've answered 7000+ questions and my "People helped" count is only 657. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) It is accurate. It's the count of a user that you've never helped before, and you get that same users' medal. It only works once per user, so if you get another medal from that user, it wouldn't count.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

^

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

So let's say tso asks a question. I answer his and gets his medal for the very first time. That would be an addition to my "People Helped". Then he asks another question and I get his medal. It wouldn't happen again.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Yeah.

pooja195 (pooja195):

@TheSmartOne i already covered medal parties i see no wrong in this as long as there is a limit

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @TheSmartOne Ok, let me give you an example: I have 2 friends. I make a spam post and invite them to come. All 3 of us respond to the post. pooja195 (pooja195):

Its problematic BUT you are only allowed to give ONE OTHER person a medal? (so 2 people in total)

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yes, which makes medal spamming faster, more efficient, and easier to not be seen by others and reported.

pooja195 (pooja195):

-_- you are not understanding what im saying its okay leave it

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I'm pretty sure I have answered more than 657 unique user's post :P

OpenStudy (igreen):

Not exactly. Mostly people medal spam one person, but this only allows you to give multiple medals to only other people.
