In his book on domestic violence homicides, Neal Websdale cites the following studies: “The extant research literature shows that women experience an increased risk of lethal violence when they leave intimate relationships with men. Wilson and Daly’s analysis of interspousal homicide from summary data in Canada, New South Wales and Chicago reveals that wives experienced a ‘substantially elevated’ risk of lethal victimization when estranged form and no longer living with their husbands.
