OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

How would you define something being "politically right"?

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

I'm doing a debate about whether something can be politically right if it is morally wrong. But I have researched the definitions of politically right, and I haven't found any. So, I don't know what the topic of my debate really is. Does anyone know how to define or clarify what it means to be politically right?

OpenStudy (dan815):

Politics (from Greek: πολιτικός politikos, definition "of, for, or relating to citizens") is the practice and theory of influencing other people. More narrowly, it refers to achieving and exercising positions of governance — organized control over a human community, particularly a state. Furthermore, politics is the study or practice of the distribution of power and resources within a given community (a usually hierarchically organized population) as well as the interrelationship(s) between communities.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

you guys aren't really helping

OpenStudy (dan815):

A decision being politically right is when the actions taken are supporting/ adhering to the definition and principles of politics.

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

Wait, so @nincompoop @dan815 @acxbox22 Politically right means when a decision that has to do with benefitting the government?

OpenStudy (dan815):

Partially, there is more to it. Look at the definition of politics stated a few comments above.

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

not necessarily benefitting but pretty much

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

Does it mean when a decision helps organize the power? Or distribute the power? Or help things go smoothly?

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):
