Please can anyone kindly assist with explaining this? Thanks in advance. In tomatoes the allele for red fruit R is dominant to the allele for yellow fruit r, and the hairy stem H is dominant to that for hairless stem h. What are the possible genotypes of the gametes from this RRHh tomato plant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe there is only one possible genotype because R and H are both present, and they are the dominant gametes.. So the possible genotype for RRHh would be a red fruit with a hairy stem I'm not sure if that is what you asking? But yes, if one is dominant, even if there is a non dominant present, the dominant one will prevail hopefully i helped somewhat! :)

Thank you iheartfood, but this doesn't directly answer the question, what you answered is the phenotype, I needed assistance with the genotype. I would appreciate more input. Thanks in advance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The genotype is the genetic makeup of a cell, an organism, or an individual usually with reference to a specific characteristic under consideration.

Thanks ChrissyC, I do know what genotype means, but in terms of the question, please see below In tomatoes the allele for red fruit R is dominant to the allele for yellow fruit r, and the hairy stem H is dominant to that for hairless stem h. What are the possible genotypes of the gametes from this RRHh tomato plant?

OpenStudy (ciaraxcx):

It wants you to do a punnet square! So since we have RRHh, this can be split up into RH Rh RH Rh. When we put this into a punnett square, it should look like this! Those are all of the possible genotypes. Hope this clears it up for you!

Thank you ciaraxcx
