Jellyfish release the egg and sperm into the sea. The fertilized egg settles down on the sea floor and grows into a polyp. When polyps bud, they form a medusa, which develops into the jellyfish. What is this process of reproduction called? A. Segmentation B. Alternation of generations C. Fertilization

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i feel like this is a type of fertilization process.

but jellyfish can be asexual meaning they can have sex with themselves to make more jellyfish in a quicker time length. but if they are setting their eggs into the water so the males can mate, then it would just be normal fertilization.

do you understand the definition of each one of your answer choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe it might be B. :)

Segmentation refers to it's body plan if I am not mistaken. Also just look at the life cycle of Jellyfish. I might be wrong, that's the answer I would pick though.
