Suggestion: Having our nation's flag next to our username. (Optional of course) Preetha said this is a good idea! What do you guys think?

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

hm sounds good :D

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Thanks! :)

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I agree though it would lead people to act racist. This may lead to racist jokes and teasing.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

^^

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

I said it's optional, though. :)

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

True but racism happens everyday @confluxepic

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Yeah, racism happens all the time. I never told anyone where I'm from, yet I was still treated poorly because of the color of my skin. So that point doesn't hold up.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

True but this would definitely make it happen more often. @jagr2713

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

But people can tell where they are in a chat or message and still get picked on. lol :D

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Only if you decide to put your nation's flag. You don't have to if you don't want to :)

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I agree @jagr2713 bit I said it would make it happen more often.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

True but, its optional

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Will they make a flag for an alien nation? Currently I live on Jupiter.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

lol

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

And then the next sugesstion will be to have states' flag after this is implemented.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Possibly, however not many users have states lol

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

But this idea would just add a lot more unneccessary coding. Where would we show these nation's flag? And since it is optional, couldn't users just write where they are from on their profile? It is not mandatory to write where you are from on your profile.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

OpenStudy should first fix up their glitchs and release an Android app, and then maybe think about this.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

And I see a lot of bullying and stereotyping in the chats just over usernames and profile pictures. This would just become another thing for users in the chats to bully others, even if it is optional.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Also the primary purpose of OpenStudy is to learn, not to know where everyone lives.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

The Code of Conduct itself states: Don't be offensive, inappropriate, or creepy! So avoid: Insulting, berating, or otherwise discouraging others. Cursing and bypassing the language filters. Sexual innuendo, or "hitting on people". \(\sf\text{Soliciting personal, private, or offline contact information.}\) Any form of racism, sexism, or any other prejudicial "isms".

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Well, after all of the glitches and the Android app is sorted out, I think this should get implemented! People should be proud about where they are from, not scared and ashamed because of petty bullying! :) The nation's flag could go right next to user's username. And yeah, people can put where they are from on their profile, but it would be more convenient and much cooler to have it right next to your username. Also, most bullying gets reported, and those bullies get warned or suspended. Either way, it's optional, so you're choosing to share that information. OS is for learning, but it would be very cool to learn where your friends are from. Many people on here would like to know if certain users are from the same country as them, so that way if they need help with something that say, only a Connections Academy Capistrano student can help with, they can know that that user is from the US. :)

>Many people on here would like to know if certain users are from the same country as them, so that way if they need help with something that say, only a Connections Academy Capistrano student can help with, they can know that that user is from the US. >>Since when did Connections Academy become a country and was planning on getting a flag with the other nations of the world?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Well Connections Academy CAPISTRANO is based in california, usa, and if a student needs help with a discussion or something, that student can get help from someone who has the USA flag next to their username. They can narrow down their search for help. :)

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

How about if I'm loyal to two different countries (I lived in a separate country for some time)? lol

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sounds like a cool optional thing.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Then change your flag lol @EclipsedStar

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

@amistre64 you mean "seems" like a cool optional thing? ( you can't hear me hehe ) lol thanks :)

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

I have to decide on one? xD

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

One or none.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Well. Wouldn't that be cute if I decided to make myself a Japanese. ;) @jamierox4ev3r (;

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

When I google this "Capistrano" Capistrano is an open source tool for running scripts on multiple servers; its main use is deploying web applications.
