Somewhat contreversial and philisofical question. I am an Israel supporter and believe Israel and Palestine should share the land equally and peacefully (obviously both sides aren't doing that). However I don't understand why the U.S supports Israel. Can someone explain to me why we are in an alliance with Israel? What do they have to offer to our nation? Trade? I just don't understand how we benefit as a nation throughout the decades of conflict.

Honestly I think it's just for the oil, that area supplies a large amount of US oil. At first the US supported Israel a long time ago to keep the Soviet Union from spreading communism in that area, but I've read that some people think that the US sees Israel as the key to peace in the middle east. So all in all I think the US sees Israel just as a source to US influence in the middle east.
