need help with part b) finding the recurrence relation

\[s_{n+1}=\sum_{i=0}^{n+1}2^{2i}=\sum_{i=0}^{n}2^{2i}+\sum_{i=n+1}^{n+1}2^{2i}\]

\[=s_n+2^{2(n+1)}\]
