The Industrial Revolution lead to Imperialism when countries associated with the Industrial Revolution started to produce goods (factory-made) that were cheaper, and people had better quality homes because of this.

To add on to what EclipsedStar said, the industrial revolution required materials that their country alone wasn't providing enough of. Demand for products was high, and they needed materials. So, imperialism took place, by colonizing small countries to exploit their bountiful natural resources. I hope this helps!
