HELP PLEASE ASAP!!!! MEDAL+FAN!!!! A class of 24 students was asked to identify a team sport in which they have participated. Their responses are shown in the line plot. http://assets.openstudy.com/updates/attachments/51a3a6b5e4b0aa1ad88791ff-dyalis_love-1369681096409-math.png a. jabez177 (jabez177):

That question is easy but hard to type out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't get line plots the x's are confusing... ;/

jabez177 (jabez177):

Haha, they are. But it's easier when I solve it and it's hard to type the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you just explain it? :)

jabez177 (jabez177):

How many responses are the x's. Or is it the number of students polled.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jabez177

jabez177 (jabez177):

Thought so.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry...

jabez177 (jabez177):

For what? It's okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk lol i thought that u were mad cuz u had to explain it all...

jabez177 (jabez177):

Haha, I never get mad at girls... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol xD so how do u do this?

jabez177 (jabez177):

I'm thinking, hold on real quick.

jabez177 (jabez177):

Okay, never mind... This is too hard to explain... I'll try and tag someone...

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

If I understand it correctly, the x's represent the responses. So for (a) it would just be how many x's there are in whole. For (b), you are given the answer already :) Can you figure out for (c)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so... A) 28 responses B) 24 students C) A are the responses of the students and the x's stand for how many times they picked the number and B is the number of students????

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Basically the x's are saying how many students pick that answer choice. You have 24 kids but 28 choices. Why is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe some picked twice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@wolfe8

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Yep. The survey didn't say to pick only one answer so some picked more than one. Good job.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay! i thought i was wrong lol thank you so much!! :D

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Nope you got it. You were just a little confused. No problem. Good luck with school.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol yeah but i got it now thanks :)
