Quite often, video games have been known for and blamed for multiple different issues in society, from theft to school shootings. While these claims are not all true, some games have in fact caused this sort of occurrence. However, some games, including One Chance, The Static Speaks My Name, and Presentable Liberty have worked explicitly to impress upon players the feelings of depression and the awareness of such an issue, thus causing good and yet bad results. Even others serve an educational purpose.
All in all, video games can be either a help or a hindrance, it's merely up to the layer to choose what to play and how to deal with it.
