why do you think people are afraid of old,abandoned houses?

I think the idea of abandonment of a house, especially if it's old makes people think of ghosts and spirits living there. Usually, they are in bad condition which makes them rickety, and unsafe. Also, being unfamiliar with a place can be scary because you don't know what else is there or has been there.
