3x - x + 2 = 12.

OpenStudy (mitu12):

first subtract 2 from both sides

OpenStudy (mitu12):

then combine your like terms which are 3x-3

OpenStudy (dancing_stars23):

@mitu12 how did you get -3??? just curious it should be subtract 2 from both sides which ends up as 3x-x=10 because the two cancels itself out then add like terms so now it is 2x=10 then divide 2x/2=10/2 x=5
