3. Perimeter ≈ ? apothem = 38.6cm Area ≈ 4940.8cm What is the Perimeter of the octagon?
@Jadzia
Hello Welcome to Openstudy! :D Perimeter is the sum of all the sides of a polygon. Since you are given the Area and the apothem, you can use it to solve for the perimeter. First you have to know the formula for the area of the polygons. \(\sf area = (½)(apothem)(perimeter) \) Now, rearrange the formula in terms of perimeter, do you know how to do that?
No not really, but i tried to substitute 4940.8=1/2(38.6)P
This is where i am stumped
oh that's great enough :D here are the steps that you can follow in order to solve for P: 1. multiply 1/2 x 38.6 2. divide 4940.8 by the product that you calculated in step 1 3. tell me what you got and we'll see if we get the same answer :)
256?
let's see.. calculating... and... yes! i got the same thing! :D
