Find the surface area of the figure below. some one please help! i am struggling with these.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (lsdxmdmaddicthc):

Surface Area of a Cone = ( (pi)+radius+slant height ) + ( (pi) * radius(sqaured) )

OpenStudy (lsdxmdmaddicthc):

Try plugging in the values that you know and solving. I will tell you if you're correct

OpenStudy (lsdxmdmaddicthc):

Err sorry I made a mistake in the formula

OpenStudy (lsdxmdmaddicthc):

It's actually this : Surface Area of a Cone = ( (Pi) * Radius * Slant Height ) + ( (Pi) * Radius(sqaured) )

OpenStudy (lsdxmdmaddicthc):

Want me to explain why the formula is set up like that? Surface Areas of Prisms and Cones are kinda similar in a way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay:) SA= (\[SA= \pi * r * slant height + \pi*r ^{2}\] \[SA= \pi * 1.7 * 2.1 + \pi * 1.7^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good so far? @lsDxMdmaddicThc

OpenStudy (lsdxmdmaddicthc):

Yep, that's correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When i plugged all of that in i got 20.2946885422 which would round to 20.29. thank you so much!

OpenStudy (lsdxmdmaddicthc):

You're welcome. Do you want me to explain the formula of Surface Area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have all of them in my notes so i think i've go it now but if i do need you ill message you:) @lsDxMdmaddicThc

OpenStudy (lsdxmdmaddicthc):

Okay :) Have a great day!

you too!
