Can a Public Service Announcement (PSA) help reduce the number of distracted driving incidents? PART ONE Write the claim you will present in your argument essay. I don't think it can help reduce the number of distracted driving accidents. Because one click can wreak it all ? Write the counterclaim that you will refute in your argument essay. fact #1 Five seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling at 55mph, that's enough time to cover the length of a football field. (2009, VTTI) Fact # 2 Reaching for a phone, dialing, texting and other uses of portable devices increased the risk of getting into a crash by three times. (2009, VTTI) Fact # 3 11% of all drivers under 20 involved in fatal crashes were reported as distracted. This age group has the largest proportion of drivers who were distracted. (2012, NHTSA) PART TWO Identify research sources that you will use in your argument essay. Include at least two primary sources and at least two secondary sources. Use MLA citations to document your sources here. Be sure to use an online source, such as EasyBib or Son of Citation to help create the citations. An example has been provided.
