OpenStudy (anonymous):

Classify the system of equations and identify the number of solutions. 5x + y = 2 2y = 4 − 10x

OpenStudy (welshfella):

rearranging the second equation in same order as the first we get 10x + 2y = 4 now compare it to the first:- 5x + y = 2

OpenStudy (welshfella):

do you notice any relation between the 2 equations?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

these are a syytem of linear equations with 2 unknowns

OpenStudy (welshfella):

notice that if we multiply the second equation by 2 we get the first one

OpenStudy (welshfella):

these are the same equation If we plot them on a graph we'll get the same line This means there are infinite solutions
