Hastings is in England. After the battle French was the language of nobility in England. Mix French with Anglo/Saxon (Old English) and you start to understand why we have so many crazy spellings of words in English.

Only one of your choices mentions England. Norman invaders came from Normandy. That is part of France.They spoke French. Only one choice mentions the Normans. Look for those two things. The answer will be where you find them.
