As cliche as cliche

Love hurts!
As cliche as it may be,
it still hurts.
I am not bitter,
nor do I resent

what gave me joy,
has borne me pain
what has made me whole,
left me undone
what day did it not fill with its splendor,
yet now has robbed my soul's night, its slumber

Now I walk these lifeless dreary halls,
Filled with columns of no hope.
Holding a torch with no flame,
with a burden too heavy to bear,
with brittle bones of dry clay.
cobwebs stretched pillar to pillar
an ominous thick fog to blind my sight

yet today's today and tomorrow's tomorrow
both hold the trails of yesterday,
and the past of the day after.
So I press on, I say;
onward with this journey;
Silence ye, call of the siren!
Courage in the shadows of giants
treading through the marsh,
and leaping over the quick sands of peril

But in the end,
don't scorn me for my cry:
