England had just ended the french indian war. Even though the war was won, the debt owed by England was very high. England decided the best way to pay the debt was to tax the citizens of their colonies instead of taxing their own citizens. This angered the the colonists who fought and shed blood for the british in the french-indian war. They believed that they should not be taxed unless they had representation in parliament to vote on their behalf. so even though answer B. is true. the answer it is asking for is C. "they were taxed without representation in parliament".
